Can I be a Puppy Guardian?
Potential owners may be interested in our Puppy Guardian Program. This program is run to enable safe and ethical breeding practices for Finnish Lapphunds in South East Queensland.
This program involves the owner/family owning and raising a breed quality puppy as their own pet, and the also dog participates in the Diamontali Breeding Program.
The benefits of this program include:
- 🐾The dog is raised as a beloved family pet with the owner/family in their forever home.
- 🐾 The owner/family receive a breed quality puppy they care for as their pet, who is able to contribute their genes to the breed.
- 🐾 Improves genetic diversity by increasing the number of quality dogs who can contribute to the growing lappy gene pool in Australia.
- 🐾 Prevents against the risks of inbreeding, genetic defects & health issues that would arise from too few breeding dogs.
- 🐾 The breeder will collect semen (male) or breed 1 litter of puppies from the dog (female), once the dog is mature, after which the dog is then neutered.
These programs are imperative to maintaining ethical, safe and optimal breeding practices for Pedigree dogs in Australia. All guardian homes are considered lifelong friends and we provide a wealth of information, support and community spirit to all of our partnership homes.
While all dogs make beautiful pets, the number of suitable puppies for the Diamontali Guardian Program each litter is usually determined following an assessment at 6-7 weeks of age. There may be just one, depending on each litter. Every application is considered on an individual basis. Given the access needed, it may be best suited to owners located in SE QLD, but certainly all locations are welcome.
We would love to welcome you to register your interest in the Puppy Guardian Program.
